Ellen stood in the door of Rhubarb Cottage, Her previous home.

This is me. Stood in the doorway of Rhubarb Cottage with a large slab of cake. Totally my happy place. In truth, you will usually find me holding a cup of tea and more importantly, never far away from a piece of homemade cake.

In my day job I’m the owner of the online homeware store, Rhubarb & Hare, specialising in selling mostly handmade items from UK makers and small businesses. Who I Am

After living in South London for several years, my husband & I fell in love with this area just outside Saffron Walden on the Essex, Cambridgeshire borders. Initially we rented an idyllic thatched cottage next door to a windmill, before buying a gorgeous two hundred and fifty year old beamed cottage in a small village. Seven years on, we wanted more space for our two small children and our increasingly large, not-so-miniature, miniature poodle but didn’t wish to leave our village so we’ve bought an old 1950’s vicarage which hasn’t been touched in several years.

Never having taken on a project like this before, we’re excited about this blank canvas to make a new family home for us to live in for many years to come.

Our new adventure begins . . . .
